CurrenciesHangers and hooks
Clothes hooks keep your jacket, bag, and scarf within easy reach without opening the closet. You'll find wall hooks with multiple hooks, single and double hooks, and knobs, in wood, brass, steel, copper, or genuine leather. Before choosing a model, check the material of your wall, because it's the peg, not the hook, that determines the load-bearing capacity.

What's the difference between a clothes hook and a wall hanger?
The classification begins with the number of hooks. A single hook holds one item and takes up a palm-sized piece of wall, a double hook holds a jacket and a scarf simultaneously, and a wall hanger has several hooks on a common base and hangs as one unit. You can place a row of single hooks exactly where you want, while a hanger with a strip requires one straight section of wall. The same product can be called several things: clothes hooks, hanger hooks, hanger holders, or hangers and holders. The name changes, but the product remains the same. A separate group are knobs, the same ones that are used on furniture fronts, and a wider selection of them is available in the furniture knobs section. We've collected other wall-mounted items in the wall-mounted accessories section.
Coat hooks in the hallway and wardrobe hooks
In the hallway, it's how many things you take off in the ten seconds after entering that counts. Jacket hooks screwed at shoulder height hold a jacket, along with a backpack and scarf, leaving the wardrobe for whatever hangs on the shoulder strap. A single hook by the door is sufficient in a narrow hallway, where a wide coat rack with a rail would take up half the passage. Wardrobe hooks are mounted more densely because they hold more small items: belts, bags, and laundry bags. In the laundry room and utility room, the same models hold brushes, leashes, shopping bags, and umbrellas. For a heavy winter jacket, choose a hook that's well away from the wall, as a flat hook can crush the collar and rub the sleeve against the plaster.
Wooden Clothes Hooks and Brass, Copper, or Steel Versions
Wood is the most common material, usually beech coated with a semi-matte acrylic varnish, less often oiled oak. Wooden clothes hooks add warmth to the hallway wall and are easy to match to the floor or existing furniture. Metal follows closely behind wood: brass, steel, copper, aluminum, and even stainless steel. Brass and copper give a warmer metal tone than steel, and unpainted versions develop a patina over time. If you prefer a consistent color, choose a lacquered or powder-coated model. Natural leather is available separately, most often as a strap with a metal fastener. Beech with a semi-matte finish and a simple, round hook are typical Scandinavian coat racks, but the section also offers many modern, sharper designs.
How to mount a wall hook without drilling
You can mount the hooks in two ways: screwed on with a dowel or glued with mounting tape. Adhesive versions go where you don't want to drill, like tiles, glass, and varnished furniture boards. Cabinet hooks, mounted on the inside of the door, also work well here. The surface for the adhesive must be smooth, dry, and degreased, as the hook will fall off wallpaper or textured plaster along with a piece of the surface. Mounting tape is tempting until a wet jacket hangs on it. A screw-on model is more reliable for heavier items, as the load-bearing capacity is determined by the anchor selected for the surface, and a plasterboard wall requires a different fastening method than concrete or brick. The wall-mounted coat hook in the hallway gets the most jostling, so check its mounting carefully.
Where to hang coat hooks and at what height
An adult's shoulders determine the default height: you can reach your arm without lifting it above your head. Hang coat hooks in the hallway there. Lower down, at a child's height, screw a separate hook so that the jacket rests on the wall, not the floor. Leave enough space between the hooks so that two jackets don't rub their sleeves, otherwise the row of hooks will be half full. In the bathroom, a small hook next to the sink holds a hand towel, and a bathrobe requires a model with a larger distance from the wall; longer models with a rail can be found in the towel racks section. In the kitchen, individual hooks are added to the railing, and this assortment has its own branch: kitchen hangers, where you can look for hanger hooks that fit the tube.
Frequently asked questions about clothes hooks
◆ What are the differences between the types? Clothes hooks?
The first division is based on the number of hooks: single hooks, double hooks, and hangers with multiple hanging points on a common base. The second is based on the mounting method, i.e., screw-on and glue-on models. The third is based on the material: wood, brass, steel, copper, aluminum, or natural leather.
◆ What types of clothes hangers are there?
There are four groups on the market: wall hangers, free-standing hangers, rods on wheels, and door-mounted models. We exclusively offer wall-mounted hooks and hooks, as well as screw-on or glue-on hangers. If you need a freestanding structure, this category won't answer your question.
◆ What's the best coat rack?
It depends on what you want to hang on it. For a heavy winter jacket, choose a screw-on model with a larger distance from the wall; for a towel or bag, a small hook is enough; and for places where you don't want to drill, a glue-down version is the way to go. The material is the final choice: wood adds warmth to the interior, brass and copper create a warmer metal tone, and steel is easier to keep clean in a humid room.
◆ What is a clothes hanger called?
The same product is sold under several names. A wall-mounted model with a single hook is called a hook, a version with a base and multiple hooks is called a wall hanger, and in stores you'll also find the terms hangers, holders, and hanger holders. People most often search for clothes hooks.
◆ Can a clothes hook be installed without drilling?
Yes, some models are mounted with mounting tape. They are suitable for smooth, dry, and degreased surfaces: tiles, glass, or varnished furniture boards. A screw-on model is more reliable for heavier items, as the wall anchor determines the load-bearing capacity.
◆ At what height should clothes hooks be mounted?
In a hallway, it's most comfortable to mount them at adult shoulder height, meaning where you can reach your arm without lifting it above your head. For a child, mount a separate hook much lower. Leave enough space between adjacent hooks so that the sleeves of two jackets don't rub against each other. p>
